HrumHrumDo they actually do detachable cable mods on request? Not seeing anything on their website about it.

bdingwhat do you mean by detachable(like what are you looking extra in detachable, there are many connectors from different manufactures)? this cables are connecting to your detachable headphones (like hd6xx, 1060c, iems, this headphones but with detachable cable version) and on other end it uses modular system. This specific version of this headphones doesn't have detachable cables.

bdingI ll write it off as reading question in other way. I wouldn't consider soldering headphones, hence I thought in just cable manner. Just buy actual one that has detachable cable version. Soldering yourself not worth it, unless you skilled in it and good with physics

HrumHrum... what does physics have anything to do with soldering and modding the cable?

Muscle_CowElectricity, polarity and temps to start with, you learn this in physics After you need to include chemistry because you need to account for metal properties Math in order to calculate. That loops into physics with ohms law. In order to keep this conversation productive, please include solutions rather than peaking on someone suggestions I will not evenly try to explain physics and relationship with cables...

Muscle_CowAll I will say go use 2 pin cable on qdc iems... Or fostex cable on sennheiser... Connection is same but polarity is opposite, noise and premature death is guaranteed. Physics is not just astronomy, it deals with electricity, magnet fields and much more

Ok. Your ideas are hurting my brains. I'm sorry but I ll ignore this pointless conversation from now on. More than half of population will ask what is voltmeter, and more people than will look at numbers with an empty stare. Like think, where do you get this knowledge, how do you know how to operate voltmeter or what does it mean. I'm sorry to insult you, but use your brains not purely trying to tell someone off... Also for original question. https://www.emu.com/order.html If nothing changed in last years this is still the official website. There used to be a rep here, but he hasn't posted from 2017. https://drop.com/profile/DeweyCheatemNHowe try to talk to this guy, he looks like purchased from them. If you are gonna through all the hoops of custom installation, you might just buy the the actual detachable version. You also can message them and see if they do lower price

HrumHrumWhile I agree in general that buying the detachable version from the manufacturer is a better option, seriously, modding headphones with detachable cables is insanely easy. And if you don't know how, five minutes googling it will give you a fairly idiot proof blueprint. I have soldered exactly two things in my adult life: tonearm wires on a Pioneer turntable I fixed up and a detachable cable mod on an old pair of Sextetts. All this from a journalism major. It's like cooking, it seems like it would be hard, but if you just follow the instructions it's pretty straightforward.

DeweyCheatemNHoweSure but I don't have any of the equipment and don't want to make such an investment for something I could very well only need to use once. I would much prefer to pay for a reasonably priced service. Also I got mine well before a detachable cable version was available.

expBYeah this thread seems miles away from your actual question. Any speaker or stereo tech in your area should be able to do a detachable cable mod reasonably cheap, particularly if you're ok with them just terminating the cable like an inch down from where they enter the cups. If you want them recessed in it's probably just as doable for most stereo techs but ask ahead of time.

DeweyCheatemNHoweI don't know man... I'm pretty sure we need to get a doctorate degree before we can effectively, safely and correctly apply a bandage to a wound. Unless you have went to med school, you better not attempt to apply a bandaid to a papercut. No physics degree... no cable mod for you.
