phoenixsongTo be honest I had the non-removable TH-X00 Mahogany then got the removable cable TR-X00 Ebony later, I much prefer the non-removable cable.
The plug required to make removable aspect happen sticks out too much, it also transfer more rubbing noise (like from your jacket/sweater or something) from the cord back to your headphone.
The removable cable actually creates more problems than it solves problems.
I was so excited when I got the email these were back, then I saw which one you brought back...
Again, despite the complaints and nearly 8K requests for the detachable cable version, you've opened preorders for the hardwired one in the year of 2021 where everyone wants to swap cables to their liking. WHY.
Also you list the MSRP for the teaks as $550 when Emu has it set to $450.
At least let us order the earcups on their own so we can mess with them on our fostex/denons.
Yes, that is the site I ordered from. I forgot to mention that it did take 2 days to receive a confirmation email from E-MU support after I sent my payment.
It was very different for me as well but not too bad. I've enjoyed the headphones ever since they came in.
zep483I think this is the first time it's available so only after this drop we'll find out.
But why do I have a strong suspicion that this will be the best version (even though it's cheapest).
Just offer the detachable cable version. It’s not like you sell your TRX00 anymore. You don’t have to worry about this cannibalising your own product sales. :)
We are working with Drop to deliver the shipment to their New Jersey hub by end of November. If that happens, you all should be able to receive the Headphone before Christmas.
straid66Sorry for the late update
After a week of custom delay, our shipment finally reach Massdrop Hub on 17 December.
Hope you all can receive the headphones before Christmas.
Ops forgot to answer your question, the E-Mu Ebony and TH-X00 Ebony used different species of ebony and sound a little bit different, so I wouldn't be surprised if the purpleheart sound different too.
Different species within the same family would probably have enough difference in density/oilyness... etc to warrant a slightly different sound.
And nice pictures guys!!! :D
For those on the fence.
I have owned Denon AH-D2000’s, D7000’s, Fostex TH-X00 Purpleheart’s and TH-X00 Ebony’s. Not only are these cheaper but they are the best out of the above mentioned by alot, they have the ability to play loud thumping bass without the treble frying your ears off, will not disappoint! 😀
