It's been a year and half since our first, and only, drop with Enlightened Equipment. I am thrilled to be working with them again. Their quilts have consistently dominated the polls, and this first drops had hundreds and hundreds of requests to bring it back. Thank you community members for making this possible!
A few notes on this particular drop:
1) The quilt features an exclusive 0.7 oz shell that isn't available on EE's website. While this special charcoal fabric is technically the shell, the quilt is reversible (with the exception of the zipper pull). The burnt orange liner fabric really shows off the features of the quilt so much better in our photos, so you'll see the quilt used both ways.
2) With the help of key community members and working closely with EE, we narrowed down the options of this drop to make it easier for EE to work with us, as well as easier for our community members to get a great quilt. The quilt is being offered in the four most common sizes, with the most popular down fill in the best all-around temperature rating. Being reversible, you basically have your choice of a quilt in bright colored orange or a less flashy charcoal. We think this quilt will make MOST people happy. However, if you want something else that is offered here, I will tell you a not-so-little secret: you can go directly to www.enlightenedequipment.com and buy your quilt exactly to your specs. Please do us and the community a favor by not contacting EE to ask for a custom quilt but at Massdrop pricing.
3) The quilt isn't discounted heavily. We all know that. This is true for nearly every drop with any UL cottage manufacture - ULA, Zpacks, Dutchware, Borah Gear, Lukes. These guys sell direct to the customer, and therefore they don't have the 50% markup of items available at retail stores. They work with our community to get us the best pricing they can, but I hope you don't expect them to lose money by working with us.
4) EE worked hard over the winter to make these quilts for us. As such, they are all ready to ship within 1-2 weeks after the drop ends. For many people, this may be reason enough to join the drop.
5) If you've read this far and are still wondering who is Enlightened Equipment or why you should use a quilt, start with this helpful primer:
