[Edited for next follow-up date]
Hey everyone,
Thanks for all your patience on this one. Just heard back from Mike over at Epaulet who has flown out to Portugal to get an update. We want to be as transparent as possible here so the following is a paraphrasing of the email from Mike.
Epaulet has been working with this sneaker factory for nearly 3 years and never had a 6 month lead time on a style like this one. Often times the cause is a problem with the supply of leather, but the decision was made to use in-stock leather that can be dispatched from Italy in 48 hours in order to avoid this issue.
Ultimately the cause of the delay was a downturn in retail in both Europe and the US. Additionally, a few other accounts were slow with payments and put the factory into a bit of a tight spot with money flow over the Summer. As a result, they had to prioritize some of the large scale orders ahead of ours in order to keep the lights on and keep making the smaller orders. It's not that uncommon and part of working with smaller factories some times.
On to the good news. The uppers are cut and sewn and now that Mike has seen them with his own eyes, he's confident the sneakers will be ready to fly to the US in about two weeks.
You can expect an update from us on 9/29 or sooner if something comes up.
