Massdrop should offer multiple shipping options on drops. The shipping was free for me on this and on November 20 UPS handed the delivery over to USPS for delivery. Last night it was finally sent from the Jacksonville, FL office to the Cataño hub in Puerto Rico and it's going to take a few days to get from there to my local USPS office and a few more for delivery. Then there's that this week is Thanksgivings day and Black Friday so that may add more delays. I would have gladly paid a shipping fee for full UPS service had it been offered to me than have to wait so long for delivery (especially because I get Black Friday off at my office and I had planned to put it together then).
I'd have happily paid for shipping that wasn't USPS or UPS.
Whenever UPS hands a package off to USPS I know I'm in for a red tape adventure. I'm always at work when the postal delivery person tries to deliver it, which means they try and fail to deliver the next day since I'm at work again. They then try a third day, same results. It then takes 2 business days before I can go pick it up. And they refuse to deliver it without me signing for it - my neighbor has even tried to sign for me with no luck.
Sad thing is, I'm not even in Puerto Rico - I'm in Oregon! USPS is code word for "add two weeks to your shipping date" when it comes to packages.
I'm curious what day you placed your order? I ordered on September 22nd and it's still "Enroute to fulfillment center."
Ouch, I would have thought the UPS to USPS hand-off thing would work better on the mainland. I placed my order on September 15. From what I can see the USPS still hasn't performed a scan here in Cataño so it's either stuck in Jacksonville or our local guys don't really care to do this fancy tracking scanning thing...
