Honestly I'd be happy just to find a nice set of keycaps that didn't cost over $100 - especially since back in they day massdrop offered blank DCS PBTs for around $60 IIRC. Putting together your own plain jane blank dcs set from pimpmykeyboard.com would cost you over $100 shipped. I'd even be happy with paying over $100 for a *really* nice set of keycaps, like the current Troubled Minds set. But I don't think the ergodox child buy is going to tip. They almost never do. Anyway, at the end of the day, it's pretty easy to source almost everything else required to build an ergodox and it isn't even that expensive, save for the keycaps. Between falbatech, mechanicalkeyboards.com and digikey, you could have a complete ergodox minus keycaps for a good price. It's the keycaps that are currently the problem. I really need a second ergodox for home, and it seems insane to me that keycaps are the barrier. But I digress.
