Well, I still think they ought to discount the PCB's for those who order extras with their regular keyboard order. I think many folks would order extras if they went from $22 to $15, and it would't throw away the profit from the keyboard kit sales.

sordna@Sordna Hi Sordna, we would love to offer another price drop on the ErgoDox but we wont be able to. When the buy exceeded 100 participants we put in calls to all of our suppliers to get pricing on 150 and 200 units of each case, larger quantities of electronics, and bigger orders of PCB. To our dismay, they all said better prices would be impossible. They all gave the same reason, manufacturing involves a materials price and a labor price. At ~100 units they drop material premiums and setup charges to give us the best price possible but making one of ten cases takes the same time as making one of ten thousand cases. It’s the manufacturing time you’re paying for and that cost doesn’t go down unless we source larger scale production. We can do that for future massdrops if the unit estimates are high enough; our estimates are mostly based on the polls so more votes means higher estimates. Thanks for the question!
