One of the most popular in the ESEE collection, the model 4 is a nice combination between portability and power. Weighing in at half a pound, this full-tang fixed blade measures 9 inches long Read More
Good all around knife. Available for $87.95 The Knife Connection. I've ordered from them before and they're a class act (and an authorized dealer). They're currently running a 5% off sale which brings the price to $83.55. Note that you'd pay a bit for shipping--it's only free for orders over $99.
Those looking for a more of a broomstick handle (better for bushcraft, outdoors) might be happy to know that The Knife Connection offers the ESEE 4 with a modified handle for $98.95.
I have seen several posters saying that Amazon offered a cheaper deal and quicker shipping. The last I heard, MD had been lapped by the tortoise, the hare, and the snail. But I am not sure that I would buy a knife in this price range from Amazon. I do not do enuf business with them to know when I am dealing with a seller dealing with genuine articles. or not. There are a reasonable number of fakes available on The Big River. So I would get the knife here or from an authorized dealer like KC or BHQ. I just found out that my Harry Belafonte knife just shipped. https://youtu.be/PMigXnXMhQ4. Perhaps it will arrive before St. Pattie's Day, me laddies.
Can anyone weigh in on the comparison with the Tops B.O.B. knife currently on offer on MD?
Both appear to be made in the USA from 1095 carbon steel and have very similar dimensions.
The Tops knife comes with a triple fire steel, integrated scraper and bow drill divot, but is also $24 more, so without those features they would seem to be of comparable value. Does anyone experienced with both of these or who is familiar with the differences have an opinion?
I'm leaning toward the Tops, given the extra features and prefer the styling and color options, but wonder if there are other intangible differences I'm not aware of, or if they are known for differences in quality/durability.
Also, would the stainless steel upgrade on the Tops be worth it for the rust resistance, or is it a non issue?
inventbotI don't own a Tops knife but have always heard good things about them. I do own and Esee 5 and an Esee 3, some things I can say about Esee. You break it they replace it no questions asked. I not a fan of the scales(grips) they are a bit on the flat side for me. I got mine from and on line store the makes custom scales for the Esee and a couple other knifes. They can sell just the blade if you buy their scales. The edge well I will say Esee blade hold a great edge and it surprises me just how well. Here is a link to a video I did on my Esee's check it out if you want

I have no insight into the process of how knives are made, but labor is expensive!
It also seems like this is the going price for similar knives. But considering the simplicity it does seem expensive.
I just got mine in the mail, knife is razor sharp outta the box. It feels awesome in the hand. Only gripe I have is that I ordered a black knife with black micarta and yet it come with a brown sheath?????? Guess i’m Just gonna have to get a leather one
