Though they’re similar to ESS’s Crowbar ballistic sunglasses, the Rollbars feature a full-frame design that encases the entire lens, offering additional peripheral protection. Still, the lenses are easy to swap thanks to the company’s proprietary Lens Gate, which locks when in use and easily unlocks for quick replacement. Each model comes with different lenses; click here for more information about each one.
Note: At checkout, you’ll have your choice of model: Silver Logo, Subdued Logo, Rollbar Terrain Tan, Tactical (+ $15), Polarized (+ $20). Scroll down to view more detailed information about each model. You can also add optional extra lenses (+$22.50 to $67.50). This drop is limited to 95 units, with only 20 units of Polarized.
Like other models in the ESS line, the Rollbars are made specially for military and law enforcement personnel. They’re fitted with anti-scratch polycarbonate lenses—with full UVA and UVB protection—each measuring 2.2 millimeters thick. And because they’re designed for ballistic protection, they meet or exceed specifications such as U.S. MIL Spec MIL-PRF-32432, ANSI Z87.1-2010, and OSHA & CE EN166. Plus, the glasses are designed so they won’t interfere with hats and helmets.
For nearly 20 years, ESS has specialized in manufacturing eyewear for fire and rescue, law enforcement, and military personnel. The only authorized eyewear provider of the US Marine Corps, this Idaho-based company is also a leading supplier to other branches of the US Department of Defense. The company’s bottom line: to make the toughest eyewear in the world, and to serve those who serve their country.
