I'm by no means an expert, but I own several Orient Bambinos. And this looks like an exact copy of one. Do they have any relation to the Epson watch brands?
MarPablAh I see, thank you. Well if it's really Swiss movement then it can't be a rebadged Bambino. Looked like that to me at first.
Wish my one Bambino had sapphire. My favourite looking watch on my wrist currently. Perhaps I should see if there is a more looking Eterna in silver/white.
Eterna is an old and highly respected brand that is probably facing extinction. They produced watches for the British military in World War II along with brands like Omega, IWC, Longines and JLC.
Sadly, their designs now seem to be in a rut, and I won't be buying this one because I already have more than one watch with designs very similar to this one, and I don't really love this one.
I'm sure it's a fine watch at an unusually good price, though.
Eterna prices now are all over the map because of the compny"s financial issues. They're still being offered at $1500 to $1800 even on Amazon, and similar models at $300 or $400 on the gray sites.
Am I the only one that's skeptical to see prices like this? If something is Originally valued at $1900, but can be sold even in bulk at $300, then surely it's true quality is a good deal less then that. It just always strikes me as dishonest and sketchy. Tell me I'm wrong? I know that's the whole purpose of this site, to get discounts, but the point stands.
Say you pay the designer $20,000. Say you only make 500 watches. The design cost 40 bucks per watch.
Double that so the manufacturer gets his ROI on the design: $80 per watch.
Double that again so the wholesaler profits on the design: $160 per watch.
Double it one more time so the retailer gets his ROI on the watch: $320 per watch.
Add that to the $800 or so the Hamilton gets for its not-so-well-designed watches: $1,120.
(But Hamilton makes a lot more than 500.)
Still a long way to go to $2500.
