Received my wallet today. The quality of leather and craftsmanship is apparent, however this wallet is MASSIVE. Thickness isn't a big deal, however the sheer size of the wallet is kind of jarring. The wallet fits in my back pocket, but is actually too large for the palm of my hand. Just something to consider for folks looking into this wallet design.
I'm surprised no one is jumping on this. Good looking wallet, and while the discount isn't huge the price is reasonable given other high end wallets on the market. I know nothing of the artisan however.
Considering how durable leather wallets are to begin with, I envy the person who can afford paying double for stitching. Then again, Saddle stitching a wallet shouldn't take that long. I've seen beginners do a 35 hole stitch in 10 minutes.
Japanese_MapleTo be honest, you'd could say that about many products on Massdrop, there's headphones that range from less than $20 to $1000+, knives from less than $10 to $200+, keyboards of different shapes and sizes. I'm pretty sure most of the people here would say they don't need any of it and would even be fine with one of the cheaper options, but a lot of these communities are enthusiast communities who can see the value brought to the table by the product and are willing to pay the given price for it.
But what you'll also notice at higher price points is a pride in the product that can only be seen by looking at the details, or how the product has aged years down the line like with leather goods. Maybe there's a higher stitch count, maybe they upgraded the driver, maybe they used a different metal. You can do just fine with cheaper goods, but as an enthusiast the details can be important.
