Take all this with a grain of salt. UE900s are more expensive, have a more traditional IEM design, and therefore don't isolate as well. Both IEMs have a comfortable amount of bass boost to them without muddying any other frquencies. However, Etymotic is known for reference quality true to life sound, so if you're into that then definitely the 3xr's. UE900s have a cut taken off the top which further emphasizes bass but makes it less percussive on the high end. This may also work to reduce any chance of sibilance. As of yet, I have seen no reviews of the 3xr's bring sibilant. Hope this helped

I've tried the Er3xr, and I own the Ue900s. The er3xr have better isolation. And the accoustics (Drums, Guitars) sound sharper on the er3xr, also the the treble is very precise, but not overpowering. The Ue900s have amazing separation, better sound stage, and the bass is a bit cleaner, personally I would go for the er3xr, but it depends on what you are looking for.
