I bought this directly from Exotac with a 20% off the $50 website price using a Veteran’s day coupon code, so I paid about $40, which is roughly the same cost here with shipping added. It’s very well-made, as are all of their products (I own several of their various fire striker rods/NanoStriker & XL sized rods).
I believe I was a little too generous with the initial fueling of this lighter (using Zippo lighter fluid) and as a result, the flame unexpectedly spread to the outer handle portion of the lighter as I held it, causing me to throw it down in a panic lol. Be careful!
Thankfully, neither the lighter nor myself were harmed from this fiasco and afterwards, I took measures to reduce the fuel in the canister by removing the 5 saturated cotton balls within it and pressing them into a paper towel to absorb away some of the excess fuel and then reinserting them into the lighter (but now with less fuel) - as well as leaving the cap off the lighter and allowing it to “air out” as doing so enables the excess fuel to evaporate.
Now, the lighter works flawlessly and I learned a valueable, albeit embarrassing, lesson haha 😇

The black & orange zipper pull I added to the loop on the lighter’s cap, to serve as a quick-pull lanyard, from a pocket, came from CountyComm. 👍🏼

allemanderI also participated in this sale, and also may or may not have over-filled the lighter.  This may or may not have resulted in knuckles-en-flambe, which may have resulted in a lighter being dropped onto the floor mat of a vehicle, which may or may not have resulted in a floormat-en-flambe.
NOTE: Whether the statement should include the "may" or "may not" depends on the amount of judging received during the telling.  Previous experiences in telling the story have resulted in receiving the types of looks usually reserved for people with art majors (unless, of course, you are a person with an art major, in which case, congratulations on all your years of hard work).

nrthmnI can neither confirm nor deny that I too overfilled the lighter, and had some very exciting usage, especially at an altitude of 4600m...

So... a more expensive Zippo with a top that can get lost?

So, don't buy one then. Those of us that have them, love them more than the old Zippos we have, however.

Pro tip: buy 2, same shipping cost 😁
These look nice, and I've been meaning to get a refillable lighter or two to have around anyway. Since they will only see occasional use I like the idea of the seals on this one. Here's hoping they live up to the hype for the price

KavikI was skeptical at first, and had some issues figuring out filling at first, but now I love it. I bought it in September, filled it once in the first month from playing with it so much, and haven’t filled it since. I joined this drop just to get a backup in case I lose the first one.

nrthmnNice Yeah, I'm hoping to just keep one in the car "in case of emergencies" and will plan to just check on it every few months to see how the fluid level is holding up.... Maybe time it with my oil change so I don't forget lol
Will be interested to see if they come out with a more pocket friendly size in the near future

Mine did not come with flints. Were they supposed to?

Chipp1Mine didn’t; they were an add-on pack I believe. This was also a year ago, so not too sure about the most recent drop. Zippo flints from Amazon work just fine though, and aren’t too expensive.

Dave Canterbury does a great video on this lighter as well as explaining how much fluid to put in it. The tendency is to overfill it. Follow his instruction and you'll be good to go on first use. These are way better than zappos.

I got one in the last drop. It’s very well made, works well — and yes, easy to overfill!

chaosmagnetSaw a video on youtube, the guy contacted the manufacturer about it. They told him that you should use about 3ml of fuel which is about 2 filled rear cap. He never had a problem after that :)

Has anyone had the problem of the pin that hold the top together working it's way out?

mt12I just got mine today and it came out of the package with the pin popping out. I think it was an assembly issue, we'll see. A few days later, I had to return mine, the unit was defective, the threads on the bottom were not cut correctly and the bottom just fell off and the top was very loose as well.

Fair enough! Yeah, I definitely have had Zippos evaporate.
