I love this knife! It came sharp from the factory and I'm not good enough at sharpening yet to try to make it even sharper. I like carrying it but so far I always carry it in it's own pocket so it doesn't get scratched by my other EDC items and I always carry a multi-tool and end up using that instead because I love this knife too much to risk it. I think I will end up keeping this one at home in a drawer or maybe only carry it when wearing a suit or something like that.
It just looks like that from the phone camera flash. I agree it looks cool, sorry for posting a picture that doesn't look exactly like the product - it is not a trick but I thought the lighting made it look pretty cool.
DraconianSo the scale liners are not black? I agree with the black, liners ,it really makes the gold accents pop. As a result making the knife more appealing to me
Kinda weird design with the minimal scales yet is not that bad in hand.
This is very well made, premium blade, the wood scales lok gorgeous.
I usually buy knives to be used and avoid collecting safe queens but at this price I will. Might even use it.
For less than the gazzilion ti framed Chinese models being flogged, this has some character.
It has its defaults (too much gold, not enough wood) and qualities (gorgeous, sharp) ; it's way too expensive compared to quality, but this is a fallkniven thing for all their knives, and still we buy them.
It's not a tough EDC, it's meant to cut with gentleness, I used it mainly for food.
I had it for 2 months in my pocket, he became like a friend. I lost it while chopping wood, and I had to grieve him. I've stopped carrying expensive knife on daily life haha ! But it was a nice experience, so get it if you have extra money.
Great Damascus steel. I like the minimal Desert Ironwood scales leaving a reveal of stainless steel. The gold accents are a bit much but provide an interesting accent.
Comparing it to Benchmade or even SOG knives I have it just doesn't seem to be made at the same high quality. The blade sharpness is okay, but it certainly does not let you shave hair, like the knives I mention above were able to straight from the factory. The blade action is not very smooth and overall construction is okay, but not great (e.g. only minimal beveling on the frame metal)
It's OK, but I wouldn't say it was a "premium" product
The knife I received is OK - but it's not stellar. The finish is alright, but the ironwood scales are only average in their figure and finishing, and one had a slight crack in it - so I had to remove the scale and stabilize it with super-glue. The blade is also not 100% straight - it appears to have a slight bend in it - both in the lamination and the grind - not terrible, but not what you'd expect from a premium product. Beyond all that, it's quite nice looking, and I think it'll probably be one of those knives that actually looks better with a bit of wear and patina on it. On the basis of the sample I received, Spyderco, Benchmade, WeKnife, and Bestech are all better built and generally represent better value in my opinion.
I can't believe that this is a Damascus blade stuck between to pieces of steel, especially for a commemorative version. Fallkniven is world renown and a knife maker. A knife I always wanted to purchase but I never did until this was available. I can't explain at how cheap this knife looks in hand. If you look closely at the pictures you can see that how cheaply it appears made. I'm at fault for not doing the research before purchasing. Honestly, Fallkniven commemorative version and they are having a difficult time selling them. These should have sold out immediately for the Fallkniven name alone.
This was not what I expected given the price and as it was a limited celebration edition, much smaller than the photo makes it seem great damascas blade but terrible quality handle scales makes it look cheap. So lightly built can hardly think of a use, quality not good enough for a gentlemans folder for the price could have got so much more from spyderco etc
