From Faber-Castell, a penmaker whose history dates back to 1761 Germany, the Ondoro is classically styled with a hexagonal barrel that provides a comfortable grip. Available in your choice of resins or smoked oak wood, the barrel is framed by a chrome-plated metal cap and pocket clip, and is fitted with a stainless steel nib Read More

Bailey2013Thanks for your comments. I really love my Orange Ondoro with a fine nib. I like the snap cap as opposed to the standard threaded caps. I like the way this pen fits in my hand, and mostly the way it writes, first time every time.
By and large Massdrop pricing is pretty good. On occasion I have been critical of Massdrop pricing when it has been out of line with the market. What we just found out, is that it's good for Amazon and eBay vendors to be notified when their prices are out of line also. I think it brings back into play, the concept of fair competition. It benefits us all, vendor and buyer alike.
..lol...sorry to sound so serious. 😊
Luke5403I definitely share your thoughts on FC Ondoro. I would recommend FC Loom to new fountain pen users who's willing to catch the fountain pen bug:) My wooden Ondoro is my daily writer and makes me smile inside whenever I pick it up. Once an electronics enthusiast, I increasingly find myself ditching my smartphone and reaching for my pen. Writing long-hand on paper is a mesmerizing experience, one only fountain pen lover can attest to. I agree that fountain pen is a niche market but it is to the benefits of us all that the vendors/manufactures make an effort to broaden the appeal of their pens by offering a deal once in a while.
What coupon code(s) did you use to drop it to 66?

pyfgcrlThanks for sharing the code. This is exactly the beauty of the discussion section. You can find rare gems in places never heard of. Now i'm a regular visitor to quill.com :)
As far as steel nibs go, I really like the FC nibs. However, the price on this one is up in the range of lower model Pilot/Sailor pens that come with a solid gold nib. In all, the $80-110 range is highly competitive and better buys are readily available. If you really like the design though, this is a good price compared to regular retail.
This pen should slot in about $60-65 base and $90 for oak. At the current price, I'll pass.
I got my Custom 92 from Amazon, sold by Amazon with prime shipping for $118. Prices fluctuate, I knew from Camelizer that I could get it for less ($108), just didn't want to wait.
$120 give or take is the going price for it right now, on eBay and Amazon.
Received my new Ondoro in Graphite and Medium nib yesterday. Inked it up with some Noodler's Libertys's Elysium and Wow! Very happy with the feel and the nib. It's warm in the hand, nice size and shape to the section, long/large enough to use unposted, which is not normal for my hand. This is my first Farber-Castellated pen, and everything I've read about their nib quality holds true. This is a beautifully smooth, juicy Nib. Honking great line.
Only quibble is that, for a snap cap, the hex shape requires that you have to very carefully align to cap. Just an observation, certainly not a huge gripe, as most people are careful when capping their pricey pens anyway.
Most pleased with this pen, and certainly my new daily writer (for now).
For what its worth, I find my Ondoro to be a much better writer than my Lamy 2K...
The only two drawbacks to this pen (if you can even call them that) is that it feels top heavy if posted and the chrome cap can get a bit smudgy.
Well worth buying if you're on the fence!
PureAngus62I'm with you. I tried really hard to love the Lamy 2k with different size nibs, however, they just don't work for me. FC ondoro wooden version is a better option

Just joined to buy my second Ondoro. I'm excited. My first one has a fine nib. This time I opted for medium. was hoping for orange, but they're sold out already So I'm settling for another graphite. I really love the way these pens write. Really smooth, nice wet ink line.
