First off, let me make it clear that I don't endorse the price on this blade, as it's A2, CPM-3V and Carbon V counterparts are indeed a far greater value. That aside, I've had the opportunity to use it quite a few times in various camps (and the kitchen, for fun), and thought I'd add my two cents. The steel is not at all as prone to chipping as VG-10, and it does take and hold a wicked edge. The handle is comfortable and gives the user a good grip when held towards the end for greater leverage when chopping. The main issue with this design, as far as I'm concerned, is one shared by almost all of the current high-end bowies. This beast is 1/4 inch thick. At this thickness it has sufficient heft to chop as well as a much longer blade, but "chop" is the operative word. The edge thickens rather quickly, so no Ninja chops through things like bamboo. You'll need to chip through things, which makes it feel more like an axe. On the flip side, you'll have to try real hard if you want to break anything but the tip. As for what uses I got from it, I chopped some cabbage for sandwiches, split a ton of small wood logs up to 8 inches across, made some feather sticks, peeled an orange, chopped some steaks and.... opened a coconut. Could I do this and more with any of its substitutes, you betcha. But it was nice to use.
