Hard pass. Cowry-X Hattori kitchen knife behind glass as an investment-only piece...maaaaaybe(?) I have a small Rockstead fixed blade with a crazy-sharp and crazy-perfect mirror finish blade in ZDP-189. That's as far as I go. My blade clocks in at 67.9 HRC and their convex edge just won't chip. I had to have something of that breed. Small enough that I had to wrap it to be able to hold/use it. [And isn't using it kind of the point?] I have never, ever before had a knife that would just 'glide' through a telephone book with only modest pressure. Fallknivens have a brilliant convex edge but most are too damned thick to actually cut with precision and ease. Lifetime regrinds and polishing are also nice features to have at these prices. Price on the small fixed blades are around this drop's price but the Rockstead approach embodies the best way to deliver high HRC with a sublime finish and the ultimate in cutting performance. PS. It's overall form is NOT enhanced by my wrap, however, my brutish hands don't exist in Japan—except in nightmares... Cheers!

PPS. The 'menuki' honours by fallen Canuck brothers. (No women in combat before I left service...) I get to remember them when it cuts into my hand during light 'crafting of bushes' ;) PPPS. It's the only knife I own that tells me—in its mirror finish—that my COVID beard has gone too far for polite society.

AxeguyThat is one sweet knife! Also like the DLC mirror finish as well. Looking forward to the day when I get to try my 1st Rockstead.

zipsurfOne day you will. I've been crafting convex edges for a long time and I do it well but I can't ever make my knives do what all Rocksteads can do because of their appleseed cross-section and building a very precise double-convex edge—that eases its way completely through the unbound phonebook corner. Straight through, like butter. And what, a thousand page corners falling away like confetti. Some scoot away like sparks as they carry some of that power away, forcing the confetti to eventually spray a little all over the place. And all you did was press that perfectly polished blade against a stationary phonebook... Lifechangeing.
