Don’t most quality xlr cables use star quad? How do you even properly wire balanced audio with 2 conductors? Are they running one of the pins on the shield? O_o

Amnesia1187Of course you can. With 3 pin, you get balanced MONO. These are sold in pairs, one for each channel. Go figure.

Amnesia1187Oops, sorry. Took me a little while to understand your question. They only state that there's 2 conductors because there really is just 2 conductors (1 hot 1 cold). The 1st pin is actually soldered to the shielding (which is a weave of tiny wires around the 2 conductors), so it doesn't count as a conductor (as it's not doing anything). https://youtu.be/rS1gZ7zbvsM?t=199
