I have a good dac serenade and lg g7 plus down to the v20. All with great dacs. I have other headphones, most of them have no clarity problems. Ex. Beyerdynamic dt990, onemore triple driver headphone not iem. Also several iems ex. Tin hifi t2 and t2pro, kzs... Maybe the HD 660s is more choosy.

Sorry for my ignorance, but if I got a cable for the Senn HD650s would it work with the Senn HD6XXs? Are they the same in that respect?

They're quite literally the same headphone, except for the color, and cable(length and 3.5mm w/ 6.3mm adapter). Anyways, these should work with any sennheiser headphone using the same two prong connectors.

Sometimes when I plug in my 6xx's, I get minor pops of static when I listen to music. Would getting a new cable fix this?

Not particularly. If it's popping WHILE listening to music, you have a source issue (meaning the thing you're playing music from) most likely. But if you experience popping while plugging in headphones, then new cables may help. The XLR cable sold here (aside from being balanced) helps with making a single instantly, instead of quarter inch/3.5mm connections that need to slide to their end-point and can cause static if inserted or removed slowly.

Will it go in Fostex? I have the purple hearts. Default cable of my 6XX won't fit in all the way.

I heard that Fostex uses the same connection but reversed the polarity so I don't think so. But don't quote me on that.

The only reason to buy this, if your current headphone cable is in good condition, is if you need the xlr plug. The sound effect of any change in impedance from your current cable will be swamped by the high impedance of these headphones. FWIW, I picked up an inexpensive 10 ft. headphone extension cord on Ebay for my 6XX and there is no difference in sound quality whether I use the 6xx with or without the extension cord.

Does anyone know if this cable would work with HD700? It seems like cables are same for 5x, 6x, 700 but just want to make sure.
