What is the benefit of this over the cable that comes with the 6xx?
It's a tad bit longer, presumably more tangle resistant and objectively better looking. Unfortunately I went for an 8ft custom with another company in preparation for the 6xx. Wish they synced this up to go at exactly the same time :(
Thanks for the info, would rather spend the money on a better DAC/AMP
nothing. I just use a 12 dollar cheapo rubberized cable that's around 5 feet long for my hd650. Sounds as good as any thousand dollar cable, too lol. I especially like it too because it doesn't tangle and adds zero weight to the headphone.
There isn't much benefit if you get the 1/4in. The benefit is gained from the 4pin Balanced cable.
also debatable but for different reasons.
I really hope you enjoy your HD6XX. The HD650 is definitely one of my favorite sounding headphones of all time, easily.
I believe I will, I think I have realistic expectations about what to expect and this headphone seems to be exactly what I've been looking for. And at this price point, no way I'm not going to get them
and what exactly are your expectations? I just want to know, for science
It is important to factor in not only the signature you like, but also the soundstage and also how much resolution you need. I learned a ways in that my priorities ended up being this....
signature >imaging > clarity = soundstage
signature = warm neutral from low bass to highs
I'm expecting precise "boring" sound. I have the Meze 99 Classics as my flavor headphone; I think the 6xx will give me decent imaging and soundstage compared to what I'm used to, with weaker bass. I think it will give me extremely detailed music and display it just as the engineer intended it.
I don't think I'm going to put these headphones on and be blown away, but I think it will help me appreciate/hear music in a way I haven't before. I expect to listen to songs I've heard 100 times but now finding nuances throughout that I never know about
How are you expecting neutrality from a headphone like the hd650. It is far from a boring can, lol. Much more boring and neutral cans out there.
