China build quality at a German price point.
I wanted a cable with a little bit more substance at the 1/4 inch connector. This one is a nice metal end that feels heavy and solid, the cable its self is thin and that is a bummer. The cloth wrap that covers the cable is sloppy and inconsistent in look and feel. At the end of the wire where the 1/4 inch terminates there are little frays in the fabric wrap straight out of the box.
The presentation is nice when you open up the box but trying to straighten out the cable is a NIGHTMARE. Especially the rubber wrapped bits that terminates into the head phone connection.They refuse to straighten out, and the tension behind the twist in the wire wants to make the whole cable spin into an awkward shape.
The ends that terminate to the Sennheiser two prong connection are not the best quality. Loose plastic bits around the prongs from pressing them through the plastic. The prongs do not look like quality metal at all they are very very dull and look almost discolored. Compared to my stock cable the Fanmusic cable looks very very cheap. The stock cable has sharp, bright gold connectors that are consistent in size and finish. These Fan music ones were very sad looking in person.
All in all
The Cable works, there is no difference in sound quality but i do not expect this cable to last more than 6 months. And for 70-80$ I expected A LOT more.
