I'm another one who owns both real straights and a couple disposables (this one here with the standard plastic handle and the feather artist club kamisori style) Like others have said, it's pointless comparing the two. Both give me an equally good shave. One is a fun hobby when I feel like being bothered with sharpening, one is quick and easy and reliably consistent when i can't be bothered. But price wise? Yeah, good disposable straights seem expensive up front.... But then again I'm up to about $300 in strops and well over $750 in stones for maintaining/restoring real straights...and my collection would be considered small compared to many lol Sure, you don't have to go down that rabbit hole yourself, but then you're paying to ship your razor to someone to hone every couple of months and what do you shave with in the mean time? Yup, better plan on buying more than one straight to rotate.
All in all, i do recommend disposable straights to those curious about getting into it, before diving all the way in. And I'll never get rid of the ones I have for those lazy times. But.......I'd recommend the plastic handled ones at half this price. And those people who ARE willing to spend for this fancy version probably already know these can be had on Amazon for $140 shipped all day long.
I would've been in if the price was better, it's about time to teach my son how to use a straight soon anyway
