View Full Discussion I finally got one delivered today but the authenticity sticker was missing from the box. Someone just sliced through the shrinkwrap on the package and cut it off (photo: http://cl.ly/image/0F3f2S2P2p1W). Anyone else received a unit with a missing authenticity sticker?
@superann Well this will be interesting, I hope that this isn't the same thing that was happening with the V-Moda headphones.
Take a read through the V-Moda headphones - https://www.massdrop.com/buy/vmoda-m100?s=v-moda
as well as the Seinheisser HD650 headphones - https://www.massdrop.com/buy/sennheiser-hd650?s=hd
Some interesting points on warranty and the issue of Massdrop not being an authorized reseller.
Below is what @J857 has pointed out in the Seinheisser discussion.
My understanding of the process so far:
1. Massdrop is not an authorized reseller of many of the headphones they source for us.
2. Most manufacturer’s warranty is null and void without a receipt from an authorized reseller. (Sennheiser included, emailed their support today and received response)
3. Massdrop in turn, provides the community with a promise of honouring the warranty themselves.
4. Massdrop also protects themselves from having to deliver on any such offer via their terms of service. From: https://www.massdrop.com/terms-of-service
"NO ORAL OR WRITTEN INFORMATION OR ADVICE GIVEN BY A MASSDROP.COM REPRESENTATIVE SHALL CREATE A WARRANTY."
Hmm... that doesn't sound good. Well even without warranty service I'd like to make sure what I'm getting is authentic. Unfortunately I emailed support a few days ago with a photo and have yet to receive a reply. Will post with any updates.
I really dont get what you mean.... just scratch off the grey part and you will see your authentication code
@superann Did you scratch off the grey part and enter it in at the website?
It's a little upsetting that I didn't get one with serials intact, but I checked the authenticity code and it looks like the unit checks out as legit and also seems to be working fine after minimal testing. The only other strange detail is that my brother reports that his unit (from an earlier drop -- with serials intact) had a different felt bag included.
