On their quest to bring lifelike sound to an IEM, the audio engineers at Final Audio Design found binaural audio to point them in the right direction—literally. Focusing on the crucial differences between two-channel stereo and binaural sound, the Final Audio Design team developed the E500 IEM: a portable audio solution that gives listeners an unparalleled sense of direction Read More
TLDR: Try finding better $20-30 headphones shipped anywhere else
I had yet to put in a cheap pair of earbuds and say "wow, this sounds good." Thats my first impression of the E500. These sound better than most highly rated in-ears before the $200 mark. Having listened to 80% of final audio design's in-ears I can still strongly recommend these against their other offerings for a product to pick up where these are lacking... lets get into it.
Pros:
-Strong construction, strong abs housing, and strain relief plug
-extended full frequency response, with clean bass extension and spl (for 6.5mm drivers)
-no resonant peaks* however everyone's ears are different but i am usually sensitive to sibilance
-large stereo spacing included with its binaural tuning (i'd guess its some phasing and lfo tweaks)
-fun, but neutral eq tuning, sub bass bump and clear lower highs with decently bright highs, (subtle V shape)
Cons: (not really)
-you get what you pay for, basic get the job done design but done right!
-no case, no comply tips (most audiophiles have extra, not a big deal)
-not built for isolation but music will be loud enough to drown out background most the time when using them
Overall, would recommend these to any and everyone you needs or wants a new budget set of earbuds. I keep them in my jacket pocket everywhere I go for work and casual listening. I will still trade off using these with my RHA T20i which I also like to bring sometimes. If you like them and are curious what Final audio has to offer check out the Piano Forte series for classical acoustic listeners and the F-series or Heaven series for more serious buyers.
I wanted to check out some finals and these aren’t available anywhere else in the US. I have no idea what they’re doing with the binaural but it’s surprising sometimes. Maybe some kind of subtle crossover effect idk!
With a reasonably flat and extended sound combined with the Sound stage presumably provided by the binaural tech. These are very enjoyable. I had an experience of an almost holographic sound scape playing in my head.
At first I found them lacking in bass but after a while I came to appreciate the low extension over the mid bass thump of others.
I wish I had other final audio iems to compare with. If they’re as pleasing as these I’d buy them all.
These are they’re cheapest model! Amazing!
100% worth it!
For the price, these earphones offer significant value. The separation, clarity and impact rival earphones many many times their pricing. Impressive. Pleasantly surprised.
Final Audio does it again with a extremely solid IEM. Sound signature is typical Final House sound by being V-shaped and warm without distorting the sound. Lightweight, solid build with the flat out best silicone eartips in the business. I have several final IEM's and due to their solid performance at such a low price these have become my daily driver when I'm away.
I like the sound for the money. Wasn't expecting them to sound as good as they do for 20 bucks. Very immersive. I know the e1000 are the same price or close. But this is my first run with final audio so I wasn't to sure what to expect for cheap earphones. Now these have me excited to try some of their more expensive products
UPDATE
These are still one of my go to for watching movies and playing games and sometimes these are my sleep buds.
