Great, another Fisher Space Pen offering no discount on a GROUP BUY. Massdrop, you may want to put your own capital into this and stock the item (with reasonable shipping times) if you’re not going to give us a deal.
I usually read the emails I get from MD. I was looking at this and it suddenly came to me that I have never tried to write underwater, on the ceiling, when it was freezing, or when I was in deep space (I've never been.) I think that I would be way more nervous carrying one of the clipless things in my pocket than my $200 Benchmade. Everybody wants to borrow a pen. There are few that even want to handle most of my knives. I'm really pissed that the CF option was sold out on the Gent. I felt that trying to get a description on the Rosewould wood be an exercise in futility, (there are many varieties.) so I went ahead and ordered it. But I can't see myself even considering buying this. Unless someone wanted to trade for their Lexus.
I would like to see MD offer the Space Pen with the click-style action and pocket clip. I wear a uniform at work and having the pen securely clipped in a pocket is far more useful than the design in this drop. Similarly, I like being able to operate a pen one-handed and not having to remove (and potentially lose) a cap.
I think for a start they could be more honest about the savings. Currently they post the MSRP, which of course no one pays anywhere, but I'm sure plenty of people fall for it, thinking they're getting something at half-price when in fact it's half the fictional MSRP, which manufacturers graciously inflate so that retailers can trick people into thinking they're getting a bargain when they pay what is in fact the true price.
Anyway, It would be pretty simple for MD to do an average price among major retailers, it would be more honest.
Just seems MD has got away from why this site started. They could at least put their own capital in the product and stock it like everyone else if they’re going to charge the same on a group buying site. My experience is long waiting times, little to no support on products and poor customer service lately. Not sure why I’d spend money here over other places when it comes to a drop like this.
