Own two pairs of these already. Actually did 100+ miles in Sweden in these and was able to summit Kebnekaise. These pants were fine after sliding/climbing over granite boulders, snow, rain, scrub brush, you name it!
These pants are a must for a serious hiker. They are incredibly durable and an absolute pleasure to wear. They are moderately water resistant initially, but lose a lot of the wax after a few washes. Recommend buying some greenland wax to apply to these if you are going through wet weather (apply a coat of wax then toss in the dryer on high for a minute or two or use a heat gun). The material dries fairly quick, and the pockets are extremely useful (there is also a small mesh pocket inside the right utility pocket). It should also be noted that after 8 days on the trail, they did NOT have a noticeable funk smell, and wore them to the mountain lodge dinners with no problem!
I'm 6'2" 165lbs, generally a 32 waist, 34 length. == 48 fit great but need a belt after 3-4 days of walking in them. 46 Long is a little tight at first but after a few trail days they are perfect.
If you have a big butt then these pants might feel a little tight around the hips and groin. Also, if you have a big butt, these pants will make it look extra fantastic ;)
