Built quality is among the worst for this price though... Even my HiFiMAN RE-400s feel sturdier than the R2A. They mention the replaceable cable/driver component, but really, why don't just make it more durable from the get go? Sounds like a business strategy to me... Cables break more often, and people will buy the replaceable parts more often... I really hope that Flare Audio will consider improving the built quality of these, as to me, it's the only problem with the overall package.

I don't have any experience with HiFiMAN RE-400s but I've been using my R2A's for over a year now and I've had no problems with cable breaking or anything. Seems very sturdy/well-built to me. I agree with @klim - soundstage is among the best for this price.

Hmmm, are you sure that you've had your R2A's for over a year now? It's early Feb 2016 and the earliest R2A's from Kickstarter were only dispatched between mid-June 2015 to early July 2015. That makes it 8 months MAX, doesn't it? But well, only time will tell how durable the R2 earphones are... I 'baby' all my headphones/earphones so hopefully it'll last longer. I'd say that the Kickstarter early backer price is the most I'd be willing to pay for the R2A's, considering the built quality. At the retail price, it's like purchasing a Ferrari which is fitted with mediocre/poor quality tyres. However, if we're talking about pure sound quality, these are really impressive.
