Received mine, using them right now. A lot smaller than I expected (this is a good thing). These tiny things sound great. And, although I am sure the drivers are still fantastic, I do think that the deep and comfortable seal that these things create is half the battle. It almost replicates an open-back sound, which is odd. I think it is the sense that the music is "right there", whether that be directly in the ear canal or "around" the ear itself. Anyway, great pair of earbuds and very happy with the purchase!
Got mine as well and I do think they sound great for the price. The biggest problem I have so far is that the cable is a bit short and the little box on the cable is kinda heavy and weighs it down, causing the iem's to get pulled down a bit while in the ears. They do produce a nearly fatigue-free sound for me though.
I agree with the metal box problem. I am really trying to see what the difference in sound is between these and my pair of Shure SE215s (which I also got from Massdrop). I want to say that these are better right off the bat because of the 100$ price difference, but for some reason it is hard for me to tell. For some reason, I want to say that the SE215s are "crisper", but I will need to go back and forth more to really tell. What are your thoughts on the soundstage/lows mids highs?
I just received mine yesterday and started using it today. I'm loving them so far. I wear them around my neck (the metal piece rests on my shoulder/neck), which could solve the weighing-down problem for you!
Bring the lead out the front of your ear, then up, over, and down the back of the earlobe, and down to your chest. The weight of the little box will hold the leads in place.
