Man I wish this thing dug deeper, then maybe I'd consider it
40Hz is pretty weak. For the same price the Emotiva BasX S8 seems like a much better buy if you are looking for a small 8" subwoofer.
For an 8" sub 40hz is decent, especially if it actually still hits at 40hz versus some subs that only look good on paper. Focal is a quality maker so I suspect their specs are actually 'real life' reproduction.
40Hz is no acheivement. My JBL LSR 305's can do 43Hz, and yes I have real world measurements of my own system to back that up. I had a Yamaha YST-FSW050, a 6.5" sub, hit 35Hz with some roll off to 30Hz. Emotiva does not lie about their measurements, they usually under rate, and have a freq response graph. Now I personally am a big fan of flat 20Hz so these 8" options are nothing else than a compromise on performance. If you can get a sub to do flat 25Hz than you are not missing out on much. But 35Hz is no where near as low as you want to go. For $200 you can find some decent 12" ported subs. For a bedroom a 12" sealed sub would get you crazy depth. My Rythmik L12 can do 17Hz not just flat but elevated. My DIY 18" sealed Dayton Ultimax can do flat 17Hz to, but with MUCH more output in a much bigger room.
man you're swinging your dick all over this comment section huh
