View Full Discussion I've owned this unit for a little over a year now. It's a great interface and like said plenty times before the Mic Preamps are awesome (clean and powerful).
If anyone is new to Pro Audio gear I have some wisdom that might help you. This device provides a maximum around 46db of Gain to the Microphone (http://us.focusrite.com/usb-audio-interfaces/scarlett-2i2/specifications), but to run my intended mic the Shure SM7B (most popular budget Hip-Hop mic) I need 59db of Gain to run it (http://cdn.shure.com/specification_sheet/upload/83/us_pro_sm7b_specsheet.pdf). Dynamic Mics in general need more power.
TL;DR: This device provides a maximum around 46db of Gain. While this is good for most Condensor Mics it may not be enough to run some Dynamic Mics. Please check the specifications on your intended Mic (commonly: "Open Circuit Voltage") that it does not require more than 46db of Gain.
