Wow, there's a lot of negativity in this discussion. Anyone who knows anything about tungsten will understand exactly why these tops are so expensive. The density, the hardness, and the difficulty in machining it all add to the desirability as a top and the cost to manufacture. Tungsten must be sintered into a useful shape and then abraded to this mirror finish. Those tools used to make all the other CNC tops, yeah the bits are made of tungsten carbide. The density and the hardness provide a ridiculously heavy and unyielding top with significantly more rotational momentum than any other material on the market. It's twice as dense as lead and a 9.5 on the MOHs scale, if memory serves!
