Description says nothing about these PC speakers (with 3" drivers these can't qualify as studio monitors). Even what it says about enclosure is hard to believe. I'm pretty sure they are made from MDF. That's not an issue for these tiny speakers as solid wood would add to aesthetics only. And what is that mysterious thing in the second picture? Is that a screenshot of a mobile application? Is it somehow related to the speakers?

lasharelaThese aren’t studio monitors, but you can get good 3.5” studios: https://www.presonus.com/products/Eris-E35

nwmusicmanThanks, E35s are really a better option for the price range. I was just looking for something for a friend who wants to buy something that's cheap enough but isn't crap. As for the "STUDIO" in the title, it's just marketing sh*t. I've already got BX5 and VLS5 and even they aren't good enough for my personal requirements for entertainment. They need to be paired with a quality subwoofer (which I have not) to become amateur studio monitors and be good enough for listening and feeling the music. A pair of Eris E8 would be a good start for a poor man's home studio/stereo system. I hope someday I shall make my own pair of electrostatic speakers and a large driver subwoofer and get rid of all that overpriced sh*t.

lasharelaHmm. What’s your budget for the 2.1? You can do ok w $600-700, but depends on your space and what frequencies are key. Kali LP 6’s are kinda making waves right now, and they’re only $300? a pair. Those with the Yamaha 8” sub and a little bit of sound treatment makes a respectable setup, but you’ll still need headphones for 10k-20k work. That’s probably the direction I’m headed until I can afford some Genelec’s :)

nwmusicmanMy budget is very small, less than $150, so I used to buy second hand items on ebay. I was lucky to purchase those 5" speakers for less than $80/pair and they were in pristine condition not to mention one pair was unopened at all. But I missed a chance to buy BX10 subwoofer for less than $60. It'd complement BX5 very nicely, so still looking for that model to appear on auction. As for Kali LP6 - NO WAY! :) :) No class D amplifiers in my home! Thanks anyway! ;)

lasharelaIt was SBX8a not BX10 that sold for less than $60. I'd buy any of them at affordable price...
