Got home from vacation, so i finally had a chance to put my set through its paces, sound freakin good,... mmmh that sweet bass, so tasty. Don't have anything in same price bracket to compare them with, so can only compare them to K7XX / beyer770PRO / VMODA 80&XS / Bose QC25 / Sen.598. beats all these cans by a wide margin. remind me mostly of the VMODA XS in the tuning, but better soundstage and details again by a huge margin. Soundstage is naturally smaller then the K7XX, but that's ok as the K7XX can become to much over time as the soundstage in them is almost unnaturally large.
My cans have slight bubblemarks on both sides, doesn't bother me to much you have to really look for it, I'm guessing a very light polish will make it go away. But cant be bothered right now. Serial 1468
but would be nice if Massdrop started to have better supervision with their production. The converter included should also have been of the cable type, everybody should know that the one they included is a port killer.

StengellHi Stengell,
I'm very much a noob when it comes to audiophile stuff. I have these as well. What do you mean when you say the included converter is a port killer? Does it bring down the sound quality in any way when used?

UrVAITguyNo it doesn't affect sound quality. He just means that the jack is so heavy already, that with the adapter it's going to put a lot of strain on a headphone port. The alternative being not a fixed adapter, but one on a short cable, to reduce strain.

PieceOfTauThanks! I bought the Centrance amp, which rests nicely on my desk and eliminates that worry. I appreciate that clarification! :)

UrVAITguyHighly recommend getting the Grado adapter on Amazon if you need the smaller headphone jack and toss the included in the trash.

qua2kThe very best if you can get an adapter cord where the mini jack has a 45-90 degree angle to minimize the weight/strain on your 3.5mm mini-jack

skidmataPlays like a dream, and the 3D switch will actually make the Purble-Hearts sound a bit like an open headphone :-O .. portable yes, but not practical to use on the go, so i would primarily recommend it for desk use. The newest firmware(5.2) unfortunately have an issue where it take it 5 seconds to turn on if windows don't play audio for 16 seconds. If you use firmware 5.1 it will only take 1 second to turn on. You can also use the (B) firmware then it will never go to sleep, this is what i use, but you will have to remember to turn it off otherwise you will drain the battery(unless your computers USB power is constantly on). It also randomly wakes my computer and for some reason in win10-home i cannot disable wake on USB(I altered my windows to not take updates, so still running on the release version, so that is maybe why). Unfortunately i have few references can only compare it to my laptops dac/amp, i also tried the Soundblaster E5 but that was so crappy i returned it instantly, the E5 had worse audio than my on-board, truly horrible in the short time i had it (made sure all enhancements was set to disabled). Many sites will recommend the E5 but i don't know what they are smoking(maybe my unit was defective). BUT the Micro IDSD plays very controlled and is far better than my on-board, i also use the RCA out on the Micro IDSD to feed my amp and B&W speakers. Let me know if there is anything specific you would like to know.
