To start off with, I'm no audiophile but I do enjoy great sounding music.
I've been listening to it for the past week now and I must say that these headphones are really warming up to me. At first I thought it was okay but not worth the $650CAD (after custom and conversion) but after some burn in time I think they are pretty good. I don't have any other headphones in this price range to compare to ... but here is my quick review. The treble is smooth and enough detail to enjoy the music without being tired. The bass hits hard and clean (on some poorly recordings the bass could be bloated). Mids at first was too recessed for me, but now I feel like it's just right .. enough to enjoy it but not too forward that it takes away from the soundstage. Imaging is spot on. Lastly, the comfort and looks are just added bonuses.
Only a few things to make these headphones perfect for me 1. Fully closed headphones (not sure how without sacrificing the sound quality) 2. Detachable cables
I'm running this with my Fiio X5 on high gains with flac files and seems to have no troubles powering it.
Kudos to Massdrop and team for a successful drop. Awesome customer service and headphones. Satisfied customer.

redlineHi, I will be pairing it with my Fiio X3 II too. How do feel between the low & high gain setting in the player?

JackyLeongGlad to hear that some burnin actually helps these beauties. Will try pairing with my FiiO x5. It's fully charged now after a couple weeks of no use. Was hoping to pair with the Pono Player. It sounds great but not sure it's the best match - not giving up on that as I prefer the Pono to the FiiO.

JackyLeongWith every album I play it seems I'm switching back and forth between low and high. As for listening to the x5 with the x00 the adapter keeps coming loose just walking to kitchen and back...

zepthompsonI was toggling between lows and highs as well until I settled on highs.
Without really any technical terms.. this is the best way I can describe it.
Low gains is more mellow.. does everything well but not much excitement. High gains makes the music more alive, bass hits harder, mids and highs shines a bit more..
update; so I wore these headphones for 2.5 hours straight ... it does get a bit hot and my ears were relieved when I took them off for a 5 mins break.
@zepthompson: I didn't even bother using the adaptor that came with it, been using the sennheiser adaptor and no issues at all.
