These pens stink. They literally smell BAD. If they aren't toxic, I'd be surprised. They are inexpensive. The plastic feels nice, but they are unusable if the smell won't go away. If there's a cure for the smell, they should do it at the factory. I live in Arizona and someone said the smell might dissipate in the sun. 1 full day in 110 plus heat. No luck yet. Pee U.

jrobbinsWith due respect, it has an "Indian smell" is not an explanation unless it is just a warning not to buy Indian pens. I hope that they all don't smell like this.

jrobbinsHey Jrobbins,
The video was more of an example that this is a common thing relating to vegetal resins which is also an Anion Exchange Resin, known to give off the "fishy" smell.
Here is a few links to the chemistry behind the smell that you may find more satisfying: https://resinex.jacobi.net/anion-exchange-resins/ https://dowac.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4694/~/dow-ion-exchange-resins---anion-resins---odor

DaveHoffThere is nothing "satisfying" about learning why my pens have a fishy smell. It may be enlightening, but not satisfying. Satisfying would be the manufacturer using a process that doesn't smell bad. You seem very well intentioned, so thank you for your responses but a bad smelling pen doesn't become more usable because you know why it smells bad.
jrobbinsHi Jrobbins,
I'm sorry to hear the smell is bugging you. It tends to wear off in time but can also be helped along by soaking in a mild bleach water solution.

jrobbinsUpdate. It's been 11 weeks since I rated the pens. The smell is still there. At least its very inexpensive. I don't think it was a mistake to buy these.
