I've had a few of Fox's models over the years, I've even exchanged emails with Mike Vellekamp and I don't think they've fixed the lock failure issue when this knife is waved rapidly... which is the point of the wave deployment. A lockback is the absolute bare minimum I would accept for a wave deployment knife. Why they never went with a framelock or any other lock design is beyond me. Do not buy this knife until the company acknowledges the lockup issue and fixes it.

I wanted this at first but I'm seeing a lot of comments out there from pro martial artists who are saying the lock will fail and cut your fingers off. No thanks,

I have a couple of these and a trainer to boot. I don't usually buy more than one copy of a knife but these are amazing. Moreover, if you're carrying a blade for personal protection it's hard to do better than a karambit. With a little bit of practice you can 'draw' this just by pulling it from the pocket, and the Wave will catch on the edge of your pocket and the resulting force will swing the blade right into place with a fierce lock up. With a little more practice you can draw and strike in the same motion. They are most dangerous when held in a reverse grip, index finger in the retaining ring, using brute force slash and raking attacks, which can be launched with devastating effect even when your assailant is trying to grapple with you and the two of you are rolling around on the ground. And once you've got the basics down with a karambit even a chimp can use one, and that's kind of the point. They're great knives and this is a good price for them.

Yes this is for bigger hands for sure. I am much more the 599 hand size, but this is about an half inch longer on the handle. You want this knife to fit nicely in the hand.

warshipgodYeah, I mistakenly bought a fake and the finger grooves are whack. Hulk size. The most uncomfortable knife I own. The rest is fine, super sharp, super catchy blade Geo, the Wave feature is a huge bonus for fast execution but if I am going to buy a karambit folder, Emerson is what I would choose.

While we members appreciate Massdrop bringing more variety, including Fox Karambits, this liner lock is inferior to the 599 previously made available from Massdrop. And the 599 previously made available from Massdrop is inferior to the 599 XT. Please bring us the 599 XT.
