Made in England from a solid stick of wood—a steaming process that takes months—this super-durable umbrella is not only strong but also flexible. It can even be used as a cane Read More
Just got mine (scorched maple), absolutely beautiful. Holds up as a walking stick as promised! Just two questions:
1) Honestly, what is the rubber ring for? All I've read is that "solids can't have a tip cup, so here's a ring." So... is it a spacer between the metal tips and the wood? Or does it go over and around the tips to bring the folded canopy in to make it look tighter? I feel like an idiot for asking, but I just don't know.
2) Somebody below asked about after-market collars. It would seem to be an engraved plate wrapped around and nailed on. Anybody have experience with adding this?
Thanks!
Here's the deal, would the average Joe think to spend two hundred large on an umbrella? No.

Get a grip kid—it's just an umbrella! It won't get you laid and it won't make you John Steed.
mlawSuperb quality. I own one other Fox and a friend owns James Smith. What I like about Fox is they do it all on site. Handmade. James Smith i believe does some on site and some in Italy. Which also makes great umbrellas. Can’t go wrong. But for a Fox solid stick this is a solid price. 2/3 more on their site with shipping
