I'll be honest, I'm really new to photography and know damn near nothing about anything. But I just checked the dpreview link and this camera looks substantially worse than my A6000 in the 'image quality/studio scene' comparison. (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/fujifilm-x100t/4)
What's the deal? Not judging either way, just curious.

DookieThe lens on X100t is not very good. DPR uses a very very sharp lens to test A6000. However, x100t also uses a sensor adapted from nex-5r, so it's a few generations behind in the race.
What it offers over a6000 is an experience. Sony doesn't make cameras for those who love photography.

DookieDepends on the lens that is used on the A6000. The experience on the Fuji is top of the line and the lens on the X100T is good enough for a lot of things. From what I see on the DPReviews link, it doesn't actually look substantially worse and part of it is also just that the Sony has a newer sensor than the X100T.

DookieHonestly it probably won't cause you any issues. Many working professionals use Fuji cameras and you only notice problems when the photos are printed to VERY large sizes. These problems are not so much with the Fujis, but with digital cameras in general. Even today, the average modern lens out-resolves the sensor it's paired with - as far as I know.
This being said - those cameras are VERY different. What is it you're looking for in a camera? Think about features beyond technical specs, because that will lead you to the camera you need.

chris.ywThis camera's lens is actually excellent. What matters more than anything is the color rendition and fill flash; especially in low light and odd lighting conditions.
Nobody does that better than Fuji, at least for people. Other brands may be better for nature, but not for people.

JDWarnerThe lens is okay. When you compare lens look for photos with infinity focus. That lens on x100t is mediocre and nowhere near XF 23 or RX1R, which is far behind Leica Q. Whether it's enough or not is your take home question.
As for color and low-light performance, we are talking about APSCs. So the better thing to do is, forget about it. You need larger pixels to get better low-light measurement. 16 MP in APSC form factor is very close to D810 in terms of pixel density. D810 is nowhere easy to use when lighting is insufficient and that's product of very new technology. That's why I now carry Df with me (for it has no or little noise under ISO 1600 and 3200). Fuji, in general, marked their ISO 2/3 stops higher than all other brands. Check below to see how D7200 compared with Df. Every bit = 2-3 times difference in signal strength. That impacts how smooth color transition is.
10000 steps back, color rendering is something you can work out in raw-processing software. What you can't work out is natural color transition, micro-contrast, etc, which are heavily controlled by both sensor and lens.
No comment on flash since I don't do direct flashes.
Attached excel plot is from an exposure test I came across online. I processed the data myself. Note that I used custom variables.

@JDWarner, I have the (black) X100S & have to agree! It's tempting to pull the trigger on this one...

bobusnThey will publish new cameras soon with new tech (possibly). I suggest you wait until their Sept press release. There is no need to learn from Sony and upgrade every generation unless that camera put food on your table. For casual use it is wise to pick up a Df and learn a bit about raw processing.

chris.ywI've read the rumors that they'll have a new lens-- think it's worth passing up on the discount for this one?

laidenstarDefinitely. This one will have a discount anyway after newer product hit the market. Unless you need it very urgently.
