The leather carrying case is a clear and strong signal that this is intended for hipster riders only and not for committed distance/endurance riders. Someone will come along to defend the use of leather and its long history with bike accoutrements, for sure, but the fact still remains that leather does not hold up to extended exposure to wet environments. Whether this is carried in your jersey pocket, stowed under the saddle rails, or cinched to one of your bike's tubes; any exposure to rain, sweat or thrown water will loosen the leather straps tension and grip on the tool and/or pump. Personally, I've been using saddlesleev for years now with zero issues; paired with a Lezyne HV pump and their multi tool.

ADVcyclistI can understand the concern over leather products and their resistance to the elements, however, for people who commute everyday (such as myself) with a backpack or messanger bag, this could easily fit in either said bag minimizing it's exposure to possible harsh outside conditions. Just saying, I wouldn't strap this to my bike even if the leather was treated in some way to withstand the elements. And not to mention it could easily get stolen that way too. This is definitely something you pack in a day bag instead.

JediJonI could totally see that as a working solution. My comment was directed more to the photos showing it suspended from the rear of the saddle where, unless you're running full fenders; is the single worst location for spare tubes, tools, pump, etc...

ADVcyclistNo doubt, I hear that. They always seem to have photos that make certain products seem not as appealing as they should. I just hope with the new changes in the company that mote attention to detail overall gets better and that they do research more on competitors pricing. Many time I've found a product cheaper on amazon or other sites than the price posted here.
