Following up the well-received DAC-X6 DAC/amp, FX Audio has made significant changes to the second-generation DAC-X6 MKII. Most notable is the addition of Bluetooth with support for aptX, which makes the MKII a must-have for wireless listening Read More
Wowee, you make a lot of assumptions don’t you?
For starters...I never said anywhere that expensive gear of any kind isn’t beneficial. People can spend money on very inexpensive items too.
You’re adding variations to a discussions to help justify your ignorance...don’t do that.
Rowdy2026I merely asked you to clarify your assumptive statement with specific questions. You have more explaining to do. Until then, you have not justified your ignorant-sounding, short-sighted claim.
Has anyone found an english version of the manual?
Edit: The manual wasn't on their website, however after emailing - sales@szfxaudio.com - They provided the English manual. I have converted and attached the manual.
How about pause/play and up/down volume and skip track/replay track, that sort of thing. I see this device as useful in the living room connected to TV or CD player, game console, maybe a home theater PC. The pre-out RCA connectors on the back connected to active powered speakers or a soundbar. A remote would be very handy under circumstances like that.
I don't have a headphone-only perspective when considering a device like this.
I know measurements do not directly get translated into audiophile pleasure. But this little device's SINAD is only 76 per Shenzhen Audio's website. To give you some perspectives, SDAC scores about 90, and for >= $100, you can easily get >= 100 in SINAD. If you do care about audio quality, please stay away from this because you are likely to abandon it down the road.
On the other hand, if you are just a casual listener and care more about functions, this is an excellent device. Bluetooth is really a nice addon.
Please understand your need and this product before joining this drop. Hope this helps.
ShinewuTrue. Images on their website also suggest more pronounced bottom and top end roll-off in the FR.
Still took the plunge, there is little with similar functionality at the price, plus the first version is scarse here in the EU.
Would be great to have an original DAC-X6 to test both side-by-side, the amp components are the same but the DAC chip and board layout are different. Would be great to see it tested have measurements compared between the two.
is there special way to turn this unit on? hold the power button a certain number of seconds or something? because mine just arrived and its not turning on, might be DoA.
Thank you, cheese528! I did not know that you had to hold the power button in for that length of time on the FX Audio DAC-X6. However, this makes sense given it is a multifunction button (less common). No reviewer ever mentioned this aspect but it does say so clearly in the English manual! We (consumers) need to read those first before making assumptions. Much appreciated! Your comment saved the day and helped to prevent me from sending my unit back to China from Canada via AliExpress unnecessarily as "DOA". At least my AliExpress vendor/store offered "Free Returns" just-in-case. Phew! All is well and the FX Audio DAC-X6 DAC/AMP can power my Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 6XX headphones well! Impressive! Best wishes!
New to audio equipment so can someone tell me if this has a max resistance supported? I see 120ohms in the product specs. Can I only use headphones upto 120ohms?
My unit died after just 3 1/2 months and there's no warranty. $60 wasted. Massdrop shouldn't sell products that have no warranty or at least make it clear that an item does not have one and might as well say "Buyer beware - take a chance you'll get a good unit". I thought I was purchasing a quality product because other items sold here are of good quality. I would recommend not purchasing this DAC/Amp because you might get a lemon like I did. It would have been nice if Massdrop could contact that manufacturer and get me one that would last a while, but they only cover thirty days. But in my case, even a 90 day period would have let me s&*( out of luck. What's really sad is I was very pleased with it until it gave up the ghost! Lights work but no output, no bluetooth connection anymore either. What a shame.
mattrisThank you, appreciate the info & your time. I was just curious. I already have the xDuoo XD-05 Plus with the upgraded Burson V5i Opamp & the 05BL Pro, (as well as the 1st xDuoo XD-05 & 05BL, because they came out with it like 4 months after I got the original of course! 🤷🏻♂️). However I'm still new to all this. My 1st DAC was the Radsone EarStudio ES100 MK1. My 1st headphones were Beats Studio 2 Wireless, but I switched to the Sony WH-1000XM3 last year (love those!). Last week on a whim I bought this https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0832HHR1J/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_i4MaFb68P6DGK believe it or not, darn thing sounds really really good! Noticeable difference, I was shocked considering the price of $12.99 with another 5% off coupon.
