I read in a review if you switch the unit off it doesnt turn off the dac part. Is it true? Would love to use it with my active speakers and hd598. But dont want to amplify twice for my speakers...

LeSheenI leave it on 24/7 so I cannot answer that question. I do like the fact that the amp and the line out work simultaneously. So I can listen to the DAC/AMP part and the Adam Audio speakers the same time if I need to.

arydingJust leave it on. It lasts longer. I bought my son an mid tier Pioneer receiver made-in-Malaysia, when he was in 10 grade which was about 20 years ago. He left in on 24/7 when he did not paying game and it's still working today. I use it for my garage system. I bought a Sony portable boombox with ipod dock also made- in- Malaya some twenty years ago and I did not expect its life span was over 2 years. It's still working today in my garage. All my hi-end CD players and pre-amp are made in USA and I have been leaving them on 24/7 too. Except for the Krell mono-blocks, I turn them off due to the heat from the units. My tube amps from Cary Audio and Rogue Audio,I do turn them off to preserve the tubes' life span. For Solid State gear, I have never turned them off. That's my experience of over 40 years of playing with hi-end audio. The made-in China gear mostly was something people at my generation stay clear back in the 80s. They were garbage in the 80s and the 90s. Denon and Marantz were a well made products asssembled and made in Japan. When the two merged the moved their production lines to China and they were nothing but problems. Having said that , technology has changed and it seems the quality control of the made-in-China products have improved lately. The QC is another story. That's why when I bought anything made in China and it sounds above par and I like it, I always buy an extra one, just it case ... YMMV.
