Question about the headphone output: How is it driven? through the output transformers? Or through some hybrid?

MaorFound an image of the guts, still looks like an SET, not a hybrid. The statement here (translated) says the tubes balls power it, not chips: "FX-Audio Tube-P1 is a power amplifier with phono preamplifier input [Preampli Phono], based on 2 6J1 balls and 2 6P1 balls." Stuff in the lower left is RIAA/phono pre-amp. Now that I see the build quality, I am more impressed, looks like we may be seeing the contract manufacturer of the MD line here....

rastusHuh, kinda glad I jumped on this now seeing how nice the inside looks. Question, since I'm a noob when it comes to looking at these circuit boards: is that phono preamp section solid state? What I mean is, is every part of this amp tube-driven or are some things (e.g. phono and/or headphones) solid state?

m_sutsYes, the phono pre-amp is solid state, from what I can see. At this low price-point you will not see a tube phono pre-amp built-in. You could of course add one, and just input to the RCA in. It would help to see the top of the board, but looks all tube output otherwise. Do get some nice NOS tubes, the ones supplied are just place-holders, keep them for test. rastusDamn, that sort of bursts my bubble. I was hoping to consolidate my Little Bear T10 and vintage receiver into one integrated tube unit. Guess it's too late to cancel now.

m_sutsHave you heard a true SET play? You will not be disappointed, just do not fully judge on the tubes supplied with the unit. Try the integrated SS phono pre-amp and then your T10, likely the T10 will win though... Top board here, unless something is hidden, all tube: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2018-FX-Audio-TUBE-P1-Tube-Amplifier-Headphone-HIFI-A-Desktop-Power-Amplifier/32930620024.html

rastusNever on speakers, just on headphones (LD MK2). I have some easy-to-drive Cerwin Vegas that I'll probably pair with them. I'm going to research the tubes that this amp uses and buy some NOS, maybe Soviet tubes since those are often cheap and good. Thanks for the guidance.

rastusI have some Voskhod 6ZH1P-EV and Yugoslavia 6HM5 tubes that I may try. And currently in the Little Dot I have C3G tubes in adapters to the 5654 slots, so I'll give those a try as well. Definitely will take a look at those power tubes though.
