this deal is not that great - these are on sale at best buy stores for 80 USD at time of writing my guess there are clearancing them as the vivosmart hr is about the same price regularly
HR monitors on the wrist are very practical (and comfortable, obviously) compared to the chest straps.
Unfortunately (currently) wrist HR monitors by and large are inaccurate, and often fail to work (light leakage because it's too bright outdoors, too much sweat, or just plain the watch band is not tight enough).
If you are Australian these can be had for $96AUD. (telstra)
BTW, does anyone know something like this with less of the fitness features (more actual functions date/time, alarm) I prefer wearing a band like this for a watch than a traditional one but I'm not going to make use of fitness tracking stuff making it kinda expensive for what it is.
This would be so sick as a watch....minimal, reliable and light.
I have one of these and I'm really happy with it. It strikes a great balance of making notifications handy, gathering step and exercise data, motivating with the vibrating alarm, and just having a convenient watch on your wrist, all while being fairly understated. The screen is easy to see even in the sun (in my experience) and the charge lasts a while. Mine is paired with my MotoX first gen phone, and I haven't had any issues, other than bluetooth disconnects when I'm not close by, which is obvious.
I would recommend everyone here hold off on purchasing this as the new Vivosmart HR has been released with an optical heart rate monitor for the same price of $150. If. Massdrop is able to get a decent price on this they should be able to get a decent price on the new one.
so this comes with at heart rate STRAP ? or is it built into the band on the back of it? as this is a HUGE difference.
as far as price I said the same thing on another drop . deals were much better when they were getting started. not so much in recent months. its almost like they do not WORK with maker for the best price at all.
I think in all honesty they have gotten lazy, and are just another online source for any given product.
the weirdest part to me is, it VERY MUCH feels like they have taken to simply doing an amazon search for the product they are going to sell and price it 1 or 2 dollars cheaper. don't believe it? search the products yourself, I dare you to find a mass drop DEAL that is better than 10 dollars cheaper than anywhere else. except for the dxracer chairs who they are "in bed with" .
the bigger massdrop gets the worse they are. the ONLY thing they have improved on is updating buyers as to the status of their LONG wait periods to get the products.
oh massdrop , start giving your members REAL DEALS again, we miss them.
Stone_MaNIt doesn't come with the strap, the latter is optional and it's misleading to claim that it provides heart monitoring without mentioning that.
