The Gateron Oil King Linear Switches are so-named because they offer a thorough, thematic approach to factory lubrication. Gateron’s clear goal with the Oil King switches is to provide smooth, linear action right out of the box—that complements their moderate-to-heavy 55-gram actuation force—thanks to uncommon attention to detail when lubing the housing and stem at the factory. Then there’s the inky black color, further underscoring the smooth, viscous quality of the switches. The housings are made from PA66 Nylon for excellent sound and feel, while the stem uses a POM construction for stability and familiar action. There’s even a 22-millimeter color-matched black spring to bring the oil theme to the inside of the switch.
