There are no pictures that show clearly the differences between PCB mount and Plate mount, this may be helpful for newbies like me :) .

Plate mounted switches just have two additional legs that fit into corresponding holes in the pcb to stabilize the switch. If you want to use them as plate mounted you can just clip off the little legs.

if you don't know which to order, get pcb mount. they still mount on plates fine. the only difference is two plastic pegs that go through the pcb to keep it aligned. if you need to, you can chop the pegs off with a sharp knife. If you have plate mount switches on a bare pcb, it's a lot of work adjusting the alignment of each switch, and it is less secure.
