Received my two gems today. I'm happy with the way they look, although I did crack one's stem when I installed it... It's mostly fine though, luckily I didn't fully break it. :)
BuemsYeah that shouldnt happen and everyone below, including myself, had the same issue. The manufacturer made some really weak stems for a while and they werent qc'ed. Massdrop had to resend out at least a whole batch if not two. IMO you should contact support for a replacement like everyone else below. The company has since redesigned their stems so they are much more robust hopefully. At least mine hasn't broken yet.
Oh boy.... I really am not the guy to be asking. I haven't ventured into the world of entire key sets, aside from a max translucent.
If I was doing it though... I am big on the fonts being all the same. Artisan keys aside, the rest that do display fonts, I would try my best to keep them the same. Sick setup in that pic though!!!
It is opinion of course, but it feels like calling this artisan is cheating. Most artisan caps have an element of sculpture to them, this is a faceted keycap made with single color translucent plastic. I really like the look, but that price is weird considering what you get.
BrainFlushWhile I agree with your understanding..... I can't help but believe he stopped sanding or he simply sent me an unfinished emerald. My ruby keycap is pristine, shiny and smooth. My emerald is dull and rough to the touch, but it looks great otherwise. I have a sapphire on the way though, so maybe because of the keycap name change, that might be why i am seeing a difference in my caps.
Joined this drop 2 drops ago for 6 caps, received 3 that were too tight to fit on the stem without breaking them. Massdrop replaced 1 of my 3 broken caps and said they would look to source replacements for the rest.
Then the last drop of this dropped, I figured maybe they would use the batch order from this drop to replace caps from the one I still had broken caps from. Nope. Here's a third drop and I've yet to receive a replacement Sapphire or Topaz from 2 drops ago.
Buy at your own risk. Quality control wasn't impressive two drops ago, and Massdrop is only going to replace any problem caps you have if they have a spare lying around like the 1 replacement I received was.
HIddenpointHey HIddenpoint,
Sorry to hear about the above and that it has taken so long for us to get in contact. Our Community Support team should be reaching out to you soon. :)
