Designed by Gen.s, these artisan keycaps are sanded with abrasive paper, then coated with a glossy varnish. The result is a crystal-like appearance that’s sure to command attention on any keyboard Read More
wtf is happening here? Does the package get six keycaps of one color, or a sufficient amount of keycaps for a crystalline keyboard in one color?
I'd actually get this if they would give me a random distribution of colors that cover my A-Z.
non of it was irrelevant, i got the point but decided it wasn't a good comparison, besides the fact that there was some truth to what you were saying, i merely responded accordingly.
DrewguardoI've paid more than that and I will pay more than that again. Some people pay thousands of dollars for relatively mundane things like pens or pencils or specialized pieces of tech. Value is relative for things like this where the perceived value can be higher just because there are those of us that really like novelty or artisan caps.
If this wasn't running at the same time as the novelty shinethroughs (because "novelty shinethrough" is a super hard thing to find) then I'd definitely be hopping in for a pink one. ;)
A real vintage crystal wine glass on ebay is around $15.
And a single Gem keycap is $18.99 AFTER a 37% discount.
Which means the original price of a single keycap was actually $30.
I don't know how pricing works, but it seems a little too pricey.
But here I am thinking of buying one...
Oh I have plenty of disposable income 'BrainFlush'. And I certainly don't spend it as intelligently as I could. But I guess this kind of thing just isn't for me. Enjoy your keycap bro! I hope you ordered 5 of this awesome silica gel product that costs 3 cents to mold!
GalileoMateoAnd yet the cost of the mold, materials and whatever else that's needed is not 3 cents.
But good one dude!
I laughed really hard about that.
Off to my magic factory to pump out hundreds of these at 3¢ each!
Just got mine today & I really like the changes. The new material that it's made out of is really nice & the stems tight on topre & cherry. I hope that theres another drop with black & turquoise with the updates.
Funny you say that.
I'm still working on getting one from every artist but it's hard...no time for lurking on raffle posts. :(
I need to hire someone to do the work for me. :D
I got 4 of these gem caps from the last drop and none of them had issues. I feel like most people were satisfied with their caps and didn't post. The ones who had stem issues posted in here because they needed their problem resolved. Not sure exactly what happened in the last batch but I am more than happy with the 4 I got. They look great on my b.pad, they are definitely unique.
Understood, I feel like hobby is getting out of hand. I just saw the purple Zeal 60% pcb & I'm flipping out over it. BTW, I recently came across a pretty nice looking 35% mechanical called the Pawn. I still have a few keycaps sets I'm in search of, not to mention, a few more 40% boards. I always hear talk of end game boards, I no longer believe that! Either way, I'm loving it, the further I progress.
wsjones1981I want Zeals but I really don't have the time or will power to assemble keyboards myself. That Pawn keyboard you mentioned is super cool, I'm not comfortable enough to just up and spend $200 + VAT on a keyboard that has a layout I can't even use regularly (I'm Portuguese and need all sorts of weird accents a lot of the time) right now. I've never owned a sub 60% board though, I'd like to some time, maybe once Evan's keyboard drops I'll feel adventurous enough!
Speaking of near-future drops, hopefully either the Deep Space, Rebel or Yuri (my personal favourite, need that Cyrillic) sets come up before the end of the year, that'd be so cool.
Sadly, I'm a college student with only fifty bucks in my Paypal account right now, so I'm truly limited to just two. Gah!
What would you recommend that I buy? I have a K70 RGB and will be buying a POK3R in the very near future...

Understandable you have to manage your finances, so my rule doesn't technically apply, kind of does but doesn't.
As to a board. Sorry man, I only roll the Royal Kludge Topre clone. After using that board I will never go to another kind of switch or even a genuine Topre. It has too many features for only $100 and the feel and sound of it is just perfect. Google it or check out the drops here on MD about the RK.
I own 4.
The only one insecure here is you.
Child.
Ask your parents for some money so you can finally afford something besides your opinion. ;)
PS you insulted the artist and numerous buyers but say I'm insulting you? Boy you need to get checked. :D
I'm a fan of the simplistic design and the bright yet shine through colours, but I'm not buying either. The stems are pretty cool though. (Though they're a little lose on my MOD-L switches.)
I've had mine for 2 years. On my arrow cluster. And they've held up well beyond a doubt. While they may seem semi generic I don't think they are. Price-wise I might agree. Then again I got a good deal on mine. And they're version one.
AlexPkWell it's Saturday now, but I second the sentiment. I'm just glad to see more artisans around here. Massdrop makes them available enough to where I can actually buy ones I like and not feel like I'm bleeding money. :D
@BrainFlush - I like you and I know you just really hate the haters but, man... Just... Just let them go. It's ok. They won't change their minds, you won't change your mind, and people will still comment on drop prices when they have no intent to buy anything. It's cool. Be the pebble in the stream. Let it wash over you.
@Everyone commenting on the price - Hey guys. You're curious. I get it. Maybe even shocked. It's okay. Just think of all the things in your life you'd spend $20 on that others might not. Like comics? Some people pay $20-$30 for single issues. Older video games can get into the $200-$300 range. Pens and pencils? I've seen simple steel fountain pens sell for $500-$600.
Everyone has different valuations for different things and that's okay. No need to fight about it.
