gabafiendHey there Gabafiend!
The bottom chassis is metal while the top section is made of plastic. I went and checked it out again just to be sure and confirmed that with Gemini as well. In my opinion its well built, seems sturdy enough. However, without chucking it down the stairs then plugging it in to see if it still works...hard to say.
UbuntupunkTo answer your question,
We are not authorized to ship these overseas, at least not if you want the manufacturer's warranty. Unfortunately, some manufacturers do place international shipping restrictions on their products and we must abide by them.
Hope that answers your question, thanks for asking!
The Stutter issue has been fixed with a firmware update. Gemini should have the update on the site shortly. If not you can email eric@geminisound.com and he can send you the update. Also there are mappings for tracktor available Eric can send those as well.
Hey everyone,
I am working on getting some answers to these questions. Mapping MIDI is a pain and an art, even for people who have been doing it for years. So I will dig into this and find some answers out pronto!
Will look into the MP3 versus .wav file issue as well. Thanks for your questions and check back soon for an update.
Anyone know if all the features (pads, remembering hotcues) work in standalone mode? Interested in getting one of these for smaller house party type gigs so I don't need to worry about bringing my laptop. I'm a little worried about Stompysan's comment, might need to convert my music to .wav files if that's the case. Is it a known issue of this product or a defect with the occasional one?
Just thought I should throw in my opinion on this controller. I picked up one of these when it was on Woot a while back. Keep in mind it ships with VDJ LE. If you want the full version, that will add an additional few hundred onto the cost. As of right now, there are no other mappings for other software. In theory, it should be possible to map it in a different program (since it is full MIDI), but it hasn't happened yet.
Finally, using it as a standalone unit is nearly impossible. There is a major issue where if you have a file loaded and playing on one deck, and you load another track into the other deck, there is an audible stutter when the track loads. From my talks with Gemini, it appears to be an issue with loading mp3s. It does not happen when loading wavs. Just a couple of things to keep in mind.
