Would they be suitable as music speakers for a casual listener? Do they produce a holographic sound or does their neutrality means that a poorly recorded music will sound poor?

elefantGet some Emotiva Airmotiv 5S's. 15% off right now, bigger, more power and they have the holographic tweeter.

BigTerminatorThanks - I watched an homage to those speakers by ZeosPantera but that guy loves loud, I like softer. How are the trebles on these not too harsh?

elefantThat's the thing about the Airmotiv's, the tweeter they use is amazing. The Airmotiv's have extremely clean detailed treble that is never fatiguing. And my room has no sound treatment so the brightness is elevated and still no piercing treble at all. They have lot's of power and sound great at both near-field and mid-field. I see no reason to spend $440 for these when the Emotiva's at their lowest were $280 but now around $330 I believe. Hearing from reviews, I would much rather have Adam's or something with a ribbon or folded tweeter. I bought mine more than 2 years ago, way before Zeos got his hands on them and he loves them to death just like I do. I love to upgrade my audio gear often and the Airmotiv's have given me no reason to change from them. I previously had M-Audio BX5 D2's which were great for my first set of monitors. These just elevate everything. They still need a sub for any bass below 50Hz.

BigTerminatorI read that the airmotiv create a flat wall of sound that doesn't immerse you and that they have a small sweet spot. I'd like a wider soundstage. http://www.head-fi.org/t/613467/emotiva-airmotiv-6-completed-impressions

elefantDude your link is for the old generation of monitors, not the new ones. Look at the old vs. the new ones. Their soundstage is great, it is all about how you set them up. They are speakers, they inherently have good soundstage. In near and mid field they sound great and they sound very open. If you don't like them you can return them free of charge.
