Did anyone else receive a defective one? I finally had a chance to use it last month, and after charging it, the device never turned on.
Hopefully I'm the only one in the group that received a defective product.

Great news group! The vendor has let us know that the group's order was picked up and is on its way to our warehouse now. Based on the tracking provided these are scheduled to come in 11/3. Our warehouse team has been forwarded tracking info and will be standing by, ready to get these packed up and turned around as soon as they come in.
Sometimes shipments get delayed en route, not to worry as we will keep the group posted throughout the process and notify you all if anything causes delay.
Thanks for your patience and expect an update from us on 11/4 or sooner if something comes up.

Thanks again for joining this drop! With your help we were able to make it successful for the community. We've just submitted the group's order with the vendor for the Genius Ring Presenter/Laser Pointer and they are working hard to prepare it for shipment.
As soon as the group's order is ready at the vendor's location, they will send the bulk shipment to our warehouse in New Jersey where our warehouse team will break it up into individual orders and ship them directly to you! The current estimated ship date from our warehouse is 11/3.
Rest assured that we we will provide you all with updated information regarding the status of your order throughout the process. You can expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 10/29.

Someone really went for their over-engineering merit badge with this one. All that was necessary was USBHID compliance and these would work with any modern OS. Instead, someone decided to go with closed source proprietary drivers which, of course, they only felt like providing for Apple and Microsoft platforms.
Way to fail.

I've got a Logitech R400, which shows up as just a simple USB HID device. It uses "standard" presenter "keys" (page-up/page-down), so it works with Powerpoint, Keynote, Google Presenter, and even the crazy JS web presentation framework I use (Reveal.js).

Highly recommended, and I'm sad they decided to go the hard way with this one.

chrismetcalfAccording to this review (http://bit.ly/1KmODWo), the Silver one will work for Reveal.js:
> Outside of PowerPoint or other presentation suites, the Ring Style Presenter functions differently. The play/esc button acts as F5/refresh; previous and forward are page up and page down respectively; finally, the blank button simply inputs the letter ‘b’
Still not holding out hope for Linux driver support...

Why not put the laser on the side so you can point your finger to aim the laser?

stevenwhyMakes more sense to point with a closed fist with the side of your finger and use the buttons with your thumb. It would look funny to be pointing with this big thing on your finger and have to use your other hand to manipulate the buttons.
These little presenters are pretty cool. They are small, compact and fit right on your finger. Full presenter capabilities and laser pointer. The Black model also house mouse control at the flip of a switch on the side of the device.
Best part is when you are presenting you dont have to run back across the room to pick up the remote while everyone is watching. Its always right there with you.

Tex-ArozziDoes the black model emit keystrokes like up/down or pgup/pgdwn? Really tempted by it, but I use browser-based slidedecks, not PowerPoint.

Tex-ArozziFrom the pics it looks like the black model is the Ring Presenter and the silver one the Ring Pointer. Is that accurate?
